About Select
Topham Park Minor Softball Select Program
- Topham Park's Select program is a member of the Ontario Select Softball Tournament Association (OSSTA)
- The Select program is designed for post season (House League) play throughout the summer with select teams playing in weekend tournaments around the Greater Toronto Area.
- The program provides selected players with additional practice time, training and skills development beyond the scope of the House League program which will benefit each player in reaching their potential.
- Please note that the Select level program is aimed at fielding competitive teams for entry into tournaments and as such equal playing time and/or defensive playing positions are not guaranteed.
Player Eligibility
- Tryouts are open to any player from the House League Divisions only.
- Team rosters are submitted to the League (TPMSL) for insurance purposes.
- Representative or carded players are not eligible to play in House League Select tournaments, and as such will not be permitted to play on any Select team.
- Division alignment in select:
- U11 = Players born in 2014, 2015, 2016
- U13 = Players born in 2013, 2012

Coaching
- Topham Park Select program relies on volunteers for our Select program. Please submit a Select Coach Application by January 31st, 2025
Tryouts/Practices/Games
- Open tryouts will commence in the Spring of 2025 (See Tryout Schedule - coming soon).
- Teams are selected after a minimum of three (3) tryouts with a deadline of Sunday May 18, 2025 for team selection.
- Registration and online payments must be completed by Sunday, May 25, 2025.
- Subject to tournament availability some teams will begin practices after the team has been selected. This will be limited to one weekend practice per week so as to not interfere with game and practice schedules assigned by the League and its House League coaches.
- When the regular season playoffs are completed, Select team coaches have the option to schedule additional practices per week at their discretion.
- Players must play in at least two (2) tournaments to qualify for the Provincials. The expectation is that players who make the team will prioritize Select during their summer and the availability to participate in tournaments and practices may be a factor in determining selection to the team.
Costs
- Fees for each player will be dependent on the number of tournaments entered by the team and the number of players per team. The full cost of the program, including tournament fees, registration and uniform cost will be available as part of the Select Registration process to allow families to make a final decision.
- For 2025:
- Each player will pay a registration fee (TBD) which covers incidentals of the program.
- Each player will pay for a Select Uniform as needed (if no change from last year, uniforms may be re-used if the team is using the same uniforms).
- U11 and U13 teams will pay $450 per tournament plus $500 for Provincials (the total will be divided by number of players per team).
- U15, U17 and U21 teams will pay $500 per tournament plus $550 for Provincials (the total will be divided by number of players per team).
- Players will pay for all tournaments in which their team is participating, not just for the tournaments they are attending. Players are encouraged to participate in all tournaments, subject to availability at the coach’s discretion.
- Charges are subject to change each year.
- Our Code of Conduct, waivers and proof of age will be submitted to coaches at the first team meeting.
- Costs for travel are not provided by the League (TPMSL) and are the responsibility of each team or individual entering such tournaments.
Code of Conduct
- Select teams represent Topham Park Minor Softball League and as such all players, parents/guardians and coaches are obliged to uphold the reputation of Topham Park while visiting other Parks.
- As such every player, parent/guardian and coach must sign our Code of Conduct, which will make them accountable for their behaviour.
- Any exhibition of poor sportsmanship, (including equipment abuse) or use of alcohol or drugs, whether it be by a coach, player or parent may result in disciplinary action being taken by the League. (see League rule #7).
