Topham Park FAQ

How can I find out more information about volunteering to help the league?
Please ask any of our Executive members that are wearing a red ‘Topham Park Executive’ polo shirt or contact the league at info@tophampark.com

How do I volunteer?
You can volunteer by contacting the league at info@tophampark.com or by filling out the volunteer section when registering.

Am I still able to volunteer if I do not have a lot of softball experience?
Yes! We have many volunteer positions such as working in the snack bar, joining our grounds crew, organizing team photos etc. that don’t require previous softball experience. Please visit the volunteer section on our website to see some of the positions or contact us at info@tophampark.com.

Why do some volunteers require police checks?
All volunteers 18 and over who are interacting with the players (coaches, umpires and the League Executive) are required to submit a police check as required by League rules.

If I have a concern during a game, who do I address it too?
All concerns should be brought to the attention of the Division Convenor as soon as possible. The convenor of each division will be wearing a red ‘Topham Park Executive’ polo shirt and will be at every game or you can contact info@tophampark.com.

What happens if it is raining?
The general rule of thumb is that the game will be called at game time by the umpire. However, if it is determined in advance that the games are cancelled, the League does its best to get the message out to each affected teams coach so they can notify the players. If you haven’t received a call, expect that the game will be played. We will also update our website and social media to notify players/parents of a cancellation.

If games are cancelled, will they be rescheduled?
Unfortunately no, for two reasons:
1. We use every available time slot that our permits allow us to schedule games.
2. Our permits expire at the end of the school year and are turned over to summer adult leagues.

Where can I find the house league rules?
The House League rules are posted under the 'House League Menu' under the 'Rules and Resources' page.

When does registration take place?
Registration for returning players typically takes place in the beginning of January. New player registration takes place starting at the end of January. Check the 'Registration' page in December of each year for the dates.

Can we exchange pants?
Yes, "new" pants can be exchanged for another size at the clubhouse each night during the first week of the season.

Why don't Learn To Play & 5-pitch players receive pants?
League pants are not extended into the Learn To Play and 5-pitch divisions to keep the registration costs down.

How can I become a sponsor?
Please contact the league at sponsors@tophampark.com or at info@tophampark.com.

Topham Park requires players to supply their own batting helmets. What kind do I need to get?
  1. Helmets must be CSA approved for softball and must have a correctly installed softball face guard for those divisions requiring face guards.
  2. Helmets must have a chin strap and a face guard/cage.
  3. Helmets must be free of damage.

Topham Park uses Eagle Beaver Sports for most of our supplies. If you shop there, mention that you are playing in Topham Park softball. They should give you 20% off and point you to the correct helmets. www.eaglebeaversports.com/
Please talk to your division convenor if you have any questions about a helmet.

Can players use their own catching equipment?
Players can use their own catching equipment (mask, chest protector and leg pads), however they need to be inspected by the division convener to ensure that they are for use in softball.

Can players use pitching masks?
In some divisions, pitchers are required to wear batting helmets or pitching masks. These also can be worn in fielding positions. Pitching masks can only be worn if they are in good condition. They must be replaced if they are worn or broken.

Can players use any other personal equipment?
Only gloves and cleats are permitted.

How do I get information about Topham Park Select?
Please contact the league at info@tophampark.com or visit our ‘Selects’ section on our website to contact the Select Convenor directly.
